Postdoctoral fellowship within the Department of Theoretical Computer Science - Ref. č. 2024/6

The Institute of Computer Science of the Czech Academy of Sciences (ICS CAS) offers a postdoctoral fellowship within the Department of Theoretical Computer Science. The duration of the position is 12 months with a possibility of extension, based on performance and activity. The fellowship is available from 1st July 2024 but a later starting date is negotiable.

What we offer:

  • The Department of Theoretical Computer Science at ICS CAS offers a vibrant international research environment. Our research centres around Combinatorics, Logics, and Computational Complexity.
  • The ICS CAS is a research-only institution and the position comes with no teaching duties.

What we expect:

  • The candidates should have a PhD (or be about to obtain one) in Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field, and they should have a good track record of research, preferably in one of the research areas of our department. Active participation in the scientific life of the department is expected and collaboration with its members is welcome.
  • A keen interest and ability in applying for external funds is expected – options include Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellowships, grants of the Czech Science Foundation (GA ČR), or grants from the Czech Academy of Sciences. The ICS CAS provides guidance and assistance with grant applications.

  • the CV of the applicant including the list of publications;
  • a cover letter summarizing the candidate’s research focus, plans for the duration of the fellowship and an outline of possible collaborations with members of the department and the ICS CAS;

  • two recommendation letters should be sent by their respective authors directly to jobs@cs.cas.cz.
