Postdoctoral fellow in philosophical logic and the philosophy of logic - Ref. No. 2026/10
We seek a postdoctoral fellow to join the Czech Science Foundation project “Substitution in Material Inference and Logical Environments” (SIMILE),
led by Dr. Wesley Fussner at the Institute of Computer Science of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
SIMILE seeks to develop conceptual and mathematical-symbolic frameworks for understanding material inferences, which have emerged as a central topic inferentialist projects
as in the work of Sellars, Brandom, and Peregrin, among others. One special focus of the project's work is substitution (and especially the failure of substitution invariance),
which has long been known to play a central role in materiality. We are also interested in how materiality manifests in different reasoning contexts, such as in mathematical
reasoning, and how materiality interacts with traditional concerns of metalogic.
