• Global Report on Food Crises 2023. Summary: The Global Report on Food Crises (GRFC) for 2023 highlights that the number of people experiencing acute food insecurity and requiring urgent food and livelihood assistance is on the rise. The report indicates that over a quarter of a billion people are facing acute hunger, with economic shocks and the Ukraine war contributing to the increase. In 2022, around 258 million people across 58 countries and territories faced acute food insecurity at crisis or worse levels (IPC/CH Phase 3-5), up from 193 million people in 53 countries and territories in 2021.

I am a researcher at the Institute of Computer Science of the Czech Academy of Sciences. I am interested in discrete mathematical structures, and graphs in particular. Most of my work has been in extremal graph theory. I also work on the recently emerged theory of graph limits, and on the links this theory provides to fields such as real analysis and probability theory.

Events that I coorganized or coorganize currently

• Extremal and Probabilistic Combinatorics Webinar, organized by Diana Piguet, Jan Volec, Liana Yepremyan, and myself, now dormant. I concur with the sustainability and inclusiveness goals stated on the One World Probability Seminar webpage.
• Prague Schools on Discrete Mathematics 2020 was held in the week August 24-28, 2020. Two lecture series was be delivered by Subhash Khot and Shayan Oveis Gharan. A brief report in Czech is here. A more detailed report appeared in the December 2020 issue of IFORS News (page 45).
• Zdenek Dvorak and I organized a 2nd edition of the Prague Schools on Discrete Mathematics in July 2018. A short article about the school can be found for example here: [cesky]/[English].
• I organized Workshop Graph Limits in Bohemian Switzerland in March 2018.
• Zdenek Dvorak and I organized in August 2016 the first edition of what we hope to become a tradition of biennial Prague Schools on Discrete Mathematics. More can be found here. An article about the School appeared in the last issue of the Academic bulletin. [here]
• I organised (with Artur Czumaj an Diana Piguet) Workshop on Extremal and Probabilistic Combinatorics in July 2010 in England.
