Currently

I am leading the COBRA working group and also serve as the Head of the Department of Complex Systems and as the Chair of the Council of the Institute of Computer Science of the Czech Academy of Sciences.

Brief bio

After obtaining master degrees in Psychology from Charles University (2005) and in Mathematics from Czech Technical University (2006), I went on the quest of applying mathematics in helping to understand the complex activity of human brain through neuroimaging data analysis and mathematical modelling. After three years as a Marie Curie Fellow at the University of Nottingham, UK (Ph.D. defended in 2010), I moved back to my hometown of Prague to work as a postdoc at ICS with Dr. Paluš within a European Commission framework project Brainsync. Later I widened my interests to general development and application of mathematical methods for characterization of the interaction structure of real-world complex systems (such as human brain or the Earth's climate) from multivariate observation data. Since 2013, I serve as head of one of the institute's department, supervise PhD students and act as principal investigator in interdisciplinary grants.
