Reflection relation

In theory of function or in number theory under a reflection formula or reflection relation for a function a  functional equation between the values   and with fixed is meant (if also the term complement formula is used)

Reflection formulas occur

• in definitions of certain characteristic properties of  functions. For instance,  a function is odd if for all from the domain of ,
• in definitions or extension of domains of definition of functions, e.g.  when the convergence in a half of the complex plane can be employed for wider domains of the  argument(s),
• for numerical computation when an approximation with greater accuracy is known at one of points , , etc.
